For as long as I can remember I’ve always had a real thirst for watermelon juice and after having no luck finding a great tasting all natural watermelon juice available in New Zealand, the idea to create one was born. It was a 2 year journey to build a food grade production facility based in Nelson and start producing Mad Melon juice brand and mixer range.

It was over these 2 years that I started to understand and become very passionate about the science and microbiology behind beverage manufacturing, taking me on an unexpected journey of wanting to learn more about how to create unique flavour profiles.

I then began experimenting with a variety of ingredients to capture the most authentic tastes of single fruit beverages without the use of additives or concentrates so the consumer could experience what we put in bottle was like biting the fruit itself.

Having the ability to process our own ingredients in house allows us to control what goes into our products and develop more sustainable methods for our bi-products with health and environmental issues being at the forefront of our philosophy.
